Summary

The Buyer reports to the Manager, Global Sourcing and is responsible for the evaluation, planning and replenishment of materials required for wind plant operations. In this role the Buyer will utilize the ERP inventory system and other tools to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, purchase goods and manage pipeline delivery to prevent shortages of goods, on a situational basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate, develop and optimize inventory levels.
  • Perform regular analysis of inventory status across the organization.
  • Recommend purchase of required materials based on material demands and business plans.
  • Purchase materials as approved.
  • Ensure compliance of quality standards and assurances in materials and product delivery.
  • Build quality supplier relationships.
  • Evaluate and assess supplier overall performance.
  • Resolve business issues preventing the appropriate 3-way matching of purchase order, receipt & invoice.
  • Ensure accurate inventory at wind power and warehouse facilities.
  • Be a super user of the ERP inventory management system.
  • Participate in cross functional teams and with suppliers to optimize availability of materials and prevent shortages.
  • Other functions as determined by management.
  • Adhere to effective internal controls.
  • Travel as required (10%)

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Business or Engineering from four-year college or university; or at least (5) years’ experience related to materials and inventory functions; sourcing, contracting, procurement, inventory planning (MRP), expediting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English language reading and speaking skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Ability to work with all levels of the organization (hourly, management and officers).
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work independently of direct management oversight. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Excellent planning, project management, organization skills. Fundamental understanding of business and cost accounting principles.
  • Computer Skills: 5+ years’ experience working with Oracle, SAP, or other mainstream ERP systems with focus on order management, spare parts supply management, service parts inventory management, planned, unplanned, and predictive maintenance management. Proficiency with ad-hoc query tools, Microsoft Office, Work management, inventory management, supply chain, financial, and scheduling software.
  • Certifications: Industry certification such as APICS CSCP, or CPIM may give preference to candidates.
