Manager, Accounting

SUMMARY

Lead the implementation of reporting systems, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, internal control, reporting cost management and accounting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare various financial data and reports for the treasurer, management, and/or parent company.
  • Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipt and expenditures.
  • Direct and/or maintain general ledger, accounts payable, property tax filing, bank management, payroll accounting and operating expenses.
  • Recommend, implement and improve system controls for accounting under authorization of the treasurer, if so directed.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities as requested by upper management.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate reporting from each individual and /or section of accounting.
  • Improve and maintain the business process and system for project cost budget control under the authorization of the treasurer, if so directed.
  • Supervise accounting staff and assist senior manager, as requested.
  • Prepare audit materials and financial reporting and participate in audits.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Education

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Finance or Accounting from a four-year college or university, and at least five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Communication skills: Ability to work effectively and proactively with executive, management, and staff level employees with varying educational, professional, and cultural background using verbal and written communication.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ERP system (preferred).
